The World Intellectual Property Indicators 2020 report shows that China's intellectual property rights protection work is fruitful. The Chinese government prioritizes promotion of technology innovation in its work and has carved out an intellectual property protection path with Chinese characteristics. China actively participates in international cooperation in intellectual property protection and contributes to the global intellectual property governance system. Also, the concept that to protect intellectual property is to protect innovation is now ingrained in Chinese society. The WIPO report points out that China continued to play a leading role and made big contributions in the field of IPR protection and is ranked first in the world in many intellectual property indicators. China has taken many measures to improve its performance in almost all parts of the intellectual property protection chain, as well as its comprehensive administrative system in the field. With its first patent law coming into force in 1985, the country has founded a comparatively complete intellectual property protection legal system. It is also drafting its intellectual property protection plan for the next five years, and a guideline to build the country into a strong country in intellectual property by 2035. China has always been a follower and defender of the international intellectual property rules. It has joined almost all major international conventions on intellectual property, and has founded intellectual property cooperation mechanisms with more than 80 countries and regions to contribute to a balanced, inclusive and sustainable development of the global intellectual property cause. China actively promotes bilateral and multilateral intellectual property cooperation, and it has become a main supporter of the development of the world's intellectual property cause. And the country will continue to contribute more of its power and wisdom to the global intellectual property governance system.
